Hello, my name’s Martino with Martino Home Improvements located in Madison Heights, Michigan (Oakland County). Today, we’re doing a roof tear off and new shingle installation in Chesterfield, Macomb County, Michigan.
At the beginning of our roofing process we deliver our rubber wheel dumpster. All our dumpsters rubber wheeled about 1/2 the size of a Hummer. So you don’t have to worry about your driveway cracking or anything happens to that.
Next, we put blue tarps down. It’s called “Martino’s Blue Protection“. It protects your house from falling objects and your landscaping. So all the shingles and the nails fall on the blue tarp so they’re falling into your bushes and all your grass. Once we protect everything we start tearing off the roof shingles, flashing, the counter flashing, stuck flashing and drip edge. We also tear of all the roofing underlayment: the ice and water shield, if there is any. A lot of older houses doesn’t have it.
When we do the actual roof install everything is installed within code and maybe a little above code so you won’t have any problems. Once we tear everything off to the bare duct, we inspect it for any rotted wood. We take pictures of everything so you see what was rotted and then you see what gets replaced.
